Following an initial engagement to perform a due-diligence code review of an application code-base that PSG were to gain as part of an acquisition of another company, we were retained by PSG for a second project - to develop a prototype application called MoveIT.
Although PSG had existing development teams, they were at capacity with existing projects and the recent acquisition. So we teamed up with one of their in-house product owners who had already started mapping out the application requirements, and set to work.
The chosen technology stack was PHP 7.2, MySQL and nginx running on Linux hosts and we slid into the agile development sprint rhythm of design, build, test, review, repeat.
We quickly developed the initial skeleton of the application and continued to set out the features for a minimum viable product (MVP). As a system that was designed to be integrated into PSG's portfolio of other software products, MoveIT was first and foremost a JSON web service, with a bare-bones admin interface.
After 3 months the first version of the MVP was released to a small number of clients for initial testing and feedback. It was very warmly received by the clients and we got a lot of positive feedback. This led to further investment for the application and over the next 12 months we played a key role supporting PSG with continued development of the application and building out a dedicated internal team which eventually grew to 9 people.
In 2016 Zoopla acquired PSG. Alex Chesterman, Zoopla founder and CEO at the time, called the acquisition a "game changer", and called out the MoveIT application specifically...
We will be able to offer UK property professionals an unrivalled proposition supporting them with their software and CRM solutions, digital marketing requirements, data and market insight tools along with providing them a range of new revenue opportunities through PSG’s MoveIT platform.
We continued our engagement with the new owners of MoveIT for another few years while PSG's products and people was gradually incorporated into Zoopla.
